Ian Kenney

a north wind
cools the summer heat
her remark

ancient pines
hikers stand hypnotized
by their smartphones

August long weekend
I reclaim the yard
from the mosquitoes

chain link fence
powerless against
the giant hogweed

dawn shadows
the prairie’s not so flat
after all
